About Us

Public Affairs is the University of Miami’s primary nexus of information, outreach, and advocacy.

Serving as the hub for communications, media relations, community partnerships, and engagement with local, state, and federal governments, Public Affairs develops and nurtures the internal and external relationships that advance the University’s strategic goals and broaden its service to individuals and communities.

Led by Senior Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications and Chief of Staff to the President Rudy Fernandez, the office is responsible for safeguarding the University’s global reputation and advocating for policies and resources that empower the many ways the University contributes to society.

Public Affairs is a key touch point for stakeholders who provide support to and gain support from the University. Creativity and professionalism are hallmarks of the information we deliver, the stories we tell, and the collaborations we identify and develop.
